
The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice Degree provides students who have already earned a High School diploma or equivalency, the opportunity to broaden their knowledge by attaining an associate's degree. The program is designed to equip students academically and professionally by developing a knowledge base, social awareness and technological skills for an entry-level position in today's criminal justice environment. This program covers an overview of the criminal justice system and provides training in topics such as: Criminal Procedure, Criminal Investigation, Juvenile Delinquency, and Firearms. This program also includes critical courses that cover such topics as Effective Communication, Psychology, and Court Proceedings.
The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree provides students with an understanding of criminal justice methods, techniques, technologies and required skills and abilities. Students will learn the conceptual and practical skills needed to enter the workforce. Upon completion of this degree, many graduates will be able to apply for positions as Corrections Officers, Juvenile Detention Officer, Retail Loss Prevention Officer, Court Bailiff and many others.
Each course stands alone as a unit of study and is not dependent upon prerequisite training. A student may enter the program at the beginning of any course and continue through the sequence until completion of all courses. The course work consists of lecture/demonstration and practical applications.
